Today, we’re taking a look at the Keychron K2 V2, a wireless mechanical keyboard that’s been receiving a lot of attention in the community for its blend of quality, aesthetics, and affordability. We’ll unbox and review the keyboard while also comparing it to some of its competitors in the market.

Before we dive into the review, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the K2 V2’s design is clearly inspired by Apple’s iconic wireless keyboard, and that’s not a bad thing. The K2 V2 takes what was great about Apple’s design and improves upon it with features like backlighting, Bluetooth connectivity, and a host of different switch options.

But enough about the design. Let’s get into the unboxing.

The K2 V2 comes in a sturdy and attractive packaging, and once you lift the lid, you’ll find the keyboard nestled inside. The keyboard itself is solidly built, with a metal frame that feels cool to the touch and adds some heft to the unit. You also get a dust cover, a manual, an extra set of keycaps for Windows users, a keycap puller, and a braided USB-C cable. There’s also a wrist rest made of real wood that fits the K2 V2 perfectly, and it’s a great addition to the keyboard.

The K2 V2 has a sleek and minimalist look, with a row of function keys at the top that are useful for media control, volume adjustment, and more. The keys are smooth and completely flat, which might not be for everyone, but it gives the keyboard a unique look and feel that sets it apart from other mechanical keyboards. The keycaps are easily removable if you want to swap them out for custom ones, and the K2 V2 comes in a variety of switch options, including Gateron, Red, Brown, Blue, and more.

But enough about the aesthetics, how does the K2 V2 perform?

We tested the Gateron Red switch variant, which are pre-lubed from the factory, and it feels great to type on. The switches are smooth, fast, and responsive, and the sound is satisfyingly clicky without being too loud. The K2 V2’s sound insulation is top-notch, and it’s much quieter than other mechanical keyboards at this price range.

The K2 V2 is also wireless, with a Bluetooth mode that allows you to connect up to three devices at once. It also has a USB-C port for wired connectivity, and a toggle switch for choosing between Mac and Windows layouts. We found the Bluetooth mode to be reliable and easy to use, and we appreciated the extra flexibility it provided.

The K2 V2 has two flip-up feet that can be used to adjust the keyboard’s angle and height, giving you three different levels to choose from. The keyboard also has a good weight and solid build quality, and it feels like it can take a beating and keep on ticking.

So, what’s the verdict?

We loved the Keychron K2 V2. It’s a beautifully designed mechanical keyboard that strikes a great balance between aesthetics, performance, and affordability. The pre-lubed Gateron switches feel great to type on, the wireless mode is reliable, and the sound insulation is excellent. If you’re in the market for a mechanical keyboard that doesn’t break the bank, we highly recommend the K2 V2.
